The benefits
UFH frees up wall space, runs at lower water temperatures (which pairs beautifully with modern boilers and heat pumps), and provides comfortable heat from the floor up. It's also discreet and easy to live with.
Wet vs electric systems
Wet (water-based) systems are the most efficient choice for whole rooms and new builds. Electric mats can be ideal for retrofitting a single room such as a bathroom where floor build-up is limited.
What about running costs?
Because UFH heats at a lower temperature and spreads warmth evenly, a well-designed wet system can be cheaper to run than radiators over time, especially in a well-insulated home.
